Court Records
Circuit Courts hear felony criminal prosecutions
and civil lawsuits. Circuit Courts hear appeals from County, Justice and Municipal
courts and from administrative boards and commissions such as the Workers’
Compensation Commission and the Mississippi Department of Employment Security.
Chancery Courts have jurisdiction over disputes in matters involving equity;
domestic matters including adoptions, custody disputes and divorces; guardianships;
sanity hearings; wills; and challenges to constitutionality of state laws. Land
records are filed in Chancery Court. Chancery Courts have jurisdiction over
juvenile matters in counties which have no County Court. County Courts have
exclusive jurisdiction over eminent domain proceedings and juvenile matters,
among other things. In counties which have a County Court, a County Court judge
also serves as the Youth Court judge. County Courts share jurisdiction with
Circuit and Chancery Courts in some civil matters. The jurisdictional limit
of County Courts is up to $200,000. County Courts may handle non-capital felony
cases transferred from Circuit Court. County Court judges may issue search warrants,
set bond and preside over preliminary hearings. County Courts have concurrent
jurisdiction with Justice Courts in all matters, civil and criminal. Mississippi
has 20 County Courts and 28 County Court judges. Counties which have a County
Court include Adams, Bolivar, Coahoma, DeSoto, Forrest, Harrison, Hinds, Jackson,
Jones, Lamar, Lauderdale, Lee, Leflore, Lowndes, Madison, Pike, Rankin, Warren,
Washington and Yazoo.
Mississippi has a two-tier appellate court system
that reviews decisions of law and fact made by the trial courts. The Mississippi
Supreme Court is the court of last resort among state courts. Decisions of the
Chancery, Circuit and County Courts and of the Court of Appeals may be appealed
to the Supreme Court. Appeals which go directly to the Supreme Court include
annexations, bond issues, constitutionality challenges, death penalty cases,
disciplinary matters involving attorneys and judges, election contests, certified
questions from federal court, utility rates, cases of first impression and issues
of broad public interest.
From here you are able to inquire on Mississippi
state case records including docket entries, parties, judgments, and charges
in public courts. In common law jurisdictions, a court of record is a court
that keeps permanent records of its proceedings. Judgments of a trial court
of record are normally subject to appellate review. In many jurisdictions, all
courts are courts of record. In many jurisdictions, courts that have the power
to fine or imprison must be courts of record. In almost all jurisdictions, a
court of record will have a court clerk whose primary duty is to maintain the
permanent records. Traditionally, a court of record was required to have its
own unique seal, which was used to authenticate its judgments and copies of
its records.

I never knew that so much criminal data is available online. Your site is amazing,
I have a new hobby!
Mark B, Newport, RI
I am a retired police officer and letme tell you that the information that
you have you could only access if you were in law enforcement. This is truly
revolutionary that people can check criminal records online.
Frank S, Toledo, OH
To be honest I am always skeptical of these investigative sites on the net
and I was duped a few times. Your site has real records and not a bunch of links
to other sites.
Victor T, Wilmington, NC
I am on the Board for our State Wide Private Investigator
Association (PIAU). I have recommended your site and services to all our members.
Alan P, Los Angeles, CA
"Looking through this database revealed some
questionable behavior about my potential business partner. I'm grateful that
I found this out prior to consumating our deal. Immeasurable thanks!”
Leena J – Staten Island, NY
“You have an extremely powerful criminal
search engine. With just one quick search I was able to search for all kinds
of criminal and court records and plus do a sex offender check. Fantastic job”
Lynda R – Princeton, NJ
“Through your service, I was able to find
a lawsuit which was filed against me more than 15 years ago. I never thought
possible that such old data exists online”
Darren K – Milwaukee, WI
“With your information, I feel like I have
every courthouse and their records under my fingertips. Good job on compiling
such a huge database!”
Steve E – Lancaster, PA
“You guys are the best. I am adopted and
I used your service to help me find my birth mother. I was almost 45 and she
was over 70, but better late than never. Without you guys I never would have
tracked her down. Thanks again.”
Lucia P
“Thanks to your site I was able to track
down over 18 dear friends from the Hudson High School Class of '78 and remind
them to attend their 30 year class reunion. I missed them so much and can't
thank you enough for helping us to reunite.”
